Most businesses wing it. The ones that grow don't.
Before you write another word of online content, spend time on your competitor analysis. Here's what business strategy 101 for growth looks like:
1. Know who you're up against - not just the obvious players. Include local and regional competitors if that's your market.
2. Describe them properly - size, revenue, financial metrics if they're public. Gut feel isn't data.
3. Map their advantages - their website, brochures and spec sheets will tell you exactly where they're positioning. Read it like a strategist.
4. Find their weaknesses - especially online. A weak digital presence is your fast-track opportunity.
5. Rank their online presence - compare it honestly against your own. That gap is where you move.
Twenty years of business development advisory across ACT, Queensland and Victoria has taught me one thing: the firms that grow aren't the loudest. They're the most informed.
Competitor analysis is important data underpinning strategic groundwork. I work with businesses to create Strategic Communications. Less busy work. More market-led intelligence which produces better results.
